Director of Human Resources

Job Title:                     Director of Human Resources

Reports to:                 President & CEO

FLSA Status:              Full-time; Exempt

Career Level:              Director (navy blue)



Purpose:  The Director of Human Resources will work with their team to develop and execute an effective HR strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization.  Through actions in areas of talent and performance management, learning and development, benefits and compensation, and employee relations, the Director of HR will promote and champion the company’s vision, values, and purpose.


Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Devise and implement HR policies, processes, and systems that advance the strategic and operating needs of the company


  • Build and lead an effective and respected HR team that is business savvy and results-oriented
    • In addition, guide larger, cross-functional teams outside of direct span of control


  • Facilitate the development of a robust and enabling company culture that continuously evolves as the company experiences growth, including but not limited to:
    • Champion our DEI initiatives
    • Move forward engagement by routinely communicating and engaging with all teams company-wide
    • Be a cultural advocate


  • Ensure an effective compensation and benefits philosophy with programs in place that evolve to support employee demographics


  • Determine, monitor, and analyze the department’s key performance indicators (KPI’s) and implement improvements as needed


  • Stay up to date with ever-changing government influences on management, policies, process and work to ensure the company follows all applicable state and federal laws and regulations.



Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business, Organizational Leadership/Development, or another related field
  • 10-15 years of progressive, successful HR leadership experience in a rapidly changing, growth-oriented, and performance-driven environment
  • Leadership and coaching experience in a company(s) of 100+ employees
  • Experience working within a company generating $50M+ revenue
  • Be highly adaptable and flexible, with the ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment and enable significant change and growth
  • Display an entrepreneurial orientation; nimble and quick, proactive, enjoys and appreciates the value of innovation and change
  • Possess a strong personal values system that encompasses high integrity, honesty, a solid work ethic, high professional standards, and strong moral character
  • Have a high-energy, hands-on, roll-up-the-sleeves mentality
  • Strong interpersonal skills: ability to communicate and engage at all levels of the organization and with staff at remote locations


Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  • Communication via telephone, emails, Microsoft Teams, and with colleagues
  • Viewing computer terminal, perceiving, and transcribing data with accuracy, and keyboarding
  • The employee is required to maintain a calm and professional demeanor while handling multiple priorities.
  • The employee is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions, working primarily in an office environment.
  • Light work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Work can require walking while carrying objects, stooping, kneeling, crouching, as well as grasping objects, and reaching with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
  • Reliable physical attendance is required.
  • The employee is required to stay awake throughout the shift.
